Tech Tip! Pedal Polishing!

Tech Tip! Pedal Polishing! - Artisan Piano Services

Today we are going to show you how to clean a part of the piano that most people don't know you can clean...
Your PEDALS!
Over the years the metal on your pedals can become dirty, tarnished, or even corroded.  That's ok - we have an easy fix!
All you will need to clean your pedals is:
Begin by dispensing a small amount of Brasso onto a clean microfiber cloth. Gently rub the cloth over the entire surface of the pedal, using a circular motion to ensure even coverage. In most cases, this step alone will be sufficient to remove any tarnish or grime, restoring the pedal to its original luster.
However, if the pedal requires a more thorough cleaning, you may need to employ a slightly more aggressive approach. First, apply a small amount of Brasso to a piece of fine steel wool. Carefully buff the pedal using the steel wool, paying close attention to any particularly stubborn areas. Once you have treated the entire pedal with the steel wool, follow up by wiping it down with a clean microfiber cloth dampened with Brasso. This two-step process should effectively remove any remaining impurities and leave the pedal looking pristine.
Remember to always use a light touch when working with steel wool, as excessive pressure may result in scratches on the pedal's surface. Additionally, be sure to wipe away any residual Brasso with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to prevent any potential damage to the piano's finish.
